I am including a few cherished framed guitars here from collection and also a couple of my framed guitar pickguards. Originally 40 years ago it was a thrill to get artists to sign guitars however, change is always around the corner and the internet era fell upon us , Princess Diana's death was blamed on Paparazzi chasing her the autograph world also was evolving and in order to be more efficient and get more signatures without problems issues and what I mean by that is being able to attend events be in hotel lobbies and even not offend particular artists who felt as though signing guitars was taboo THE PICKGUARD small and simple but yet large enough to get multiple signatures on became an excellent alternative to getting guitars always signed. You can only carry or keep with you a few guitars where the part of the guitar pickguard which goes on the guitar you can keep 100s of those in a backpack!!
Then with my collections of framed guitars growing so large (running out of space) I forsaw the opportunity to put the pickguards on guitars after getting the guitars signed. But for me personally this never evolved and rather my pickguards sat labeled and alphabetized in files for many years.
