Defensive Choices The 2022/2023 Draft for Fantasy Football Draft Advice

In the fantasy football game, it's evident that defense isn't bringing you league success. They're not going to give you the points that an early-round running back or receiver will provide your team, which makes them easy to hold back on. Do not waste an early to mid-round pick on a defense. A defense, as well as the kicker, should be your two final picks of the draft. In that regard, a good reason can be a good option in the final rounds. A consistent defense can mean no roster spot for the fantasy GM players to worry about.

These are the top 3 defenses we recommend for the 2022 fantasy football season.

1) Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills got a new defensive line, and it's terrifying. The Bills were able to trade players like Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, and Harrison Phillips to gain future Hall of Famer Von Miller, long-time Denver Broncos star and the most recent Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl LVI champion. They also re-signed Shaq Lawson, who Buffalo initially selected, and the former Bill Jordan Phillips. The most crucial factor in Buffalo being ranked first is the trust the defense can have to play with one another. As the defensive coordinator, Leslie Frazier is back at the helm. Buffalo is returning nine of their 11 players. If you're an athlete, then you are aware of how important it is to have chemistry and know the players next to you. We should not think that the time this team took the field was in the notorious Kansas City Chiefs game, which saw the Buffalo defense crumble like excellent bleu cheese at the end of the game. It's a good thing that Bill's security is eager to show their worth, they will be determined to prove they're on the top team for that team, and they'll become a formidable force to be reckoned with throughout the entire season.

2) Dallas Cowboys

The most effective defense in that season in 2021 was Dallas Cowboys. Like the continuity Buffalo's defense will enjoy, Dallas is returning 81 percent of their defensive players who took over 300 snaps with the team last year. The main reason Dallas drops to 2nd in the rankings this season is the quarterback carousel they'll face throughout the season. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, and Kirk Cousins are all quarterbacks who are lighting up the field and have a solid offense to go with their backs. I'm not expecting the Dallas defense to accumulate the same amount of takeaways as they did the previous year, particularly the cornerback Trevon Diggs and the passing speed that includes Micah Parsons, Demarcus Lawrence, and Randy Gregory. Dallas is still a top fantasy defense.

3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

We've discussed two teams that attack the QB ability, but which team is likely to have one of the most effective defensive backs in the NFL? It is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers corner duo of Sean Murphy-Bunting and Carlton Davis III is one of the NFL's most effective double-threats. Murphy-Bunting is recovering from an injury he sustained in the first game of the season. However, look for the blitz-happy Todd Bowles to incorporate Murphy-Bunting in as quickly as possible. Davis III is coming off of an extension during the offseason, which means his trust has never been greater. It is expected that he will continue taking down top receivers in the coming months. Antoine Winfield Jr. is now a well-known person throughout his hometown of the Tampa Bay area as he keeps making big moves in huge situations, smacking rival wide receivers when the game goes on. The primary reason to have Tampa Bay at #3 is unorthodox - rookie Zyon McCollum. The 6'2'' corner from Sam Houston State can fly across the field, creating plenty of attention during his Buccaneers practice camp. Also, we can't forget defensive linebacker Shaqil Barrett who was voted by his fellow players to the Top 100 players of 2022 and averaging 12.5 sacks per game since joining the Bucs in 2019.

There are many defensive options in the NFL that will give you excellent points each every week this year. A defense you draft should not be the source of your anxiety on draft night and should not be held to an overly high level. Don't overthink. Choose a defensive system with strong players who have the potential to create turnovers or a more manageable schedule of strength this season. This is what you can expect.
